Not at Glastonbury? Allergic to mud? You can get all the latest news from the site over at Radio Avalon. I have to admit, I’m really rather glad not be thigh deep in mud - that’s really not my scene!

My Dear Friend has several shows - check to on-air times.

Just to let you all know that William came home, finally, on Tuesday evening. The Other Half and I are now getting used to sleepless nights and nappies of a proportion that people who have no dealings with small children cannot imagine!

Anyway, I’ll be back on-line very soon - I hope!

Road Kill and Related News

Is it just me, or are there more dead things on the road than usual? I take the same route every morning - indeed it’s the start of the same route I’ve taken to work for about 10 years - and over the last week I’ve seen two dead magpies, three dead seagulls, a dead fox and two very flat (and presumably dead) hedgehogs. I don’t ever remember having noticed QUITE so many dead things before. It crossed my mind that it could be down to the fabulous weather that we’ve been enjoying, or an increase in road traffic. However, on reflection, perhaps I’m just more awake driving to see William at 7.30am than I ever was driving to work - something the Other Half says is worrying, considering how much damage could I have done to myself and others with my half-awake driving over the last 10 years?

Anywho, dead things on the road, Labour coming off the rails, England sinking in ANOTHER championship and some prats throwing tables when drunk (for this read either Portugal or BB5).

In local news, William is now 5lb 6oz and in the final room before release at the neo-natal unit. Another couple of weeks at most, we think. In related news, the Other Half and I are going to a meeting tonight about the closure of the neo-natal unit - and the staff’s transfer to the other hospital in the trust, which is situated right on the other side of Cardiff. If we decide to have more children, it now means that my care would take place there - and not in the hospital 20 minutes up the road. We are singularly NOT impressed and shall be voicing this quite loudly!

Until then, off to watch to footie!

Photos of William, as promised, over in the gallery.

He continues to make excellent progress, enjoying his first bath last night! Mum and Dad are both knackered - not least because Dad started his new job on Monday and Mum has been expressing every 3 hours to keep up with demand!

More thoughtful and considered writing in about 2008!

Thanks

Just the very quickest of posts, which I don’t really know how to start. I suppose, first off, thanks to all of you for the kind wishes. Also, thanks to My Dear Friend for providing the update.

William John Steven was born at 19.44 on Sunday the 30th May 2004. As Vicky concluded, the Other Half and I also thought he didn’t want to miss the forthcoming football fest in June! He weighed in at a respectable 4lb 12oz and has more hair than his dad and I put together!

As he was 7 weeks premature, William was taken straight off to the Special Care Baby Unit. His lungs weren’t fully developed and due to my amazing speed of delivery (another day, a longer story!) they couldn’t get a second steroid injection into me to help him with that. The first time I saw him, he looked like an extra from Alien, but, amazingly, only six days on, he’s now dripless, tubeless (except his gastric feeding tube) and coming on leaps and bounds. They (the lovely nurses) are hoping he might even be out of his incubator and into a cot early next week - which is just beyond my comprehension.

Oh, and me, I’m fine. Will do the full story of the birth again, but for you mothers out there, hardly any drugs (no time), about 5 pushes and no stitches. That should have the world hating me! Am currently being used as some form of milk bank. Speaking of which - back to the pump.

Thanks again - photos will follow very soon.
