.. to My Dear Friend, the comments are now up and working again!

I’ll update soon, but Dad is still in hospital (having surgery today, hopefully), I’m just back from an appointment where they stuck a camera up my nose and William was two yesterday.  It’s all fun and games, I can tell you!

Following one of the, if not the best gig of my life (no, seriously, I kid you not), I’ve been feeling a bit deflated over the last few days. That post-holiday kind of come down that I haven’t felt this acutely since my days inbibing substances that any respected politician would deny all knowledge of. Anyway, back to Morrissey.

Monday last week saw me still nursing a bad ear and a cough that had “Woodbines” stamped all over it. Was it any wonder, then, that I just couldn’t bring myself to get excited at the thought of standing around Cardiff drinking before going to, what the forums were assuring me, was going to be a let-down of a performance by my all time hero? By the time the first call came in from my friend the Brum Sculptor, I was even pondering whether I was going to have a spare ticket to get rid of. Floor-layer Dave’s missus had had to pull out (much to her regret) and he was having to make some calls to avoid my wrath. Finally, the man that plays Bert to his Ernie came with us - having made the leap from thrash metal alongside Dave somewhere in the early 1990’s.

9 vodkas later, I took my seat in St David’s Hall, having been speeded through the last due to the increasingly urgent anouncements of “the performance restarting in X minutes”. Sat between Dave and the Brum One, I held my breath and waited for disappointment. It never came. As he sachayed onto the stage with a “Hey, Hey it’s Tiger Bay”, I knew I could never be let down. Nate has done an excellent review of the gig and despite coming away with no classic cuts of tailoring, I managed to down another 6 or 8 vodkas before Dave and I arrived back at the Gene Puddle to demolish a bottle of not too bad champagne. The evening deserved it.

However, approaching a week on, I need to find something else to consume me. It’s been months since I got the tickets for last Monday and I’ve been able to look forward to a great event - dabbling with other bit players - but knowing this was yet to come. Now it’s over and done and I probably won’t get the chance to see Morrissey play live for a couple more years, I need to fill a musical void. I’m off to search the internet for a gig that might just save my life..

As an aside, my Dad’s still bed-blocking, I’m still deaf in my right ear, my Dear Friend is busy and I don’t want to trouble him with my on-going comments issues (although I may have to soon), I’m owed a lunch by someone who shall remain nameless and work is - as ever - busy, busy.

Sickly, sickly, sickly…

Ill-health abounds at present in the gene puddle. My dad’s in hospital, after having a small heart-attack and is awaiting (two weeks on) a bed in a bigger hospital where they can do the tests he needs to check whether his by-passes are failing. So, no stress there then.

I, on the other hand, have had a bi-lateral ear infection (two days on the sick) and have now got the mother of all colds and one ear still so blocked that I’m deaf on the right hand side. Morrissey gig tomorrow should be interesting.

More news as and when. Life’s a bit hectic as you can imagine.

There are problems..

OK, I know there are a couple of site problems at the moment. Thanks to David for pointing out the comments issue and I’ve noticed the Gallery has disappeared. My Dear Friend is looking into both - in between his job, re-back end designing of Cliterati (not work safe) and plans for (radio) world domination.

Once it’s all resolved, I’ll let you know.

Update Gallery now back. Work continues on the comments!
